Meet Treats for Chickens CEO + Founder, Dawn
With thousands as an audience, Dawn Russell "D.R." is well-recognized as the creative energy and flow, the bts of Treats for Chickens. This made Treats for Chickens one of the most popular makers of natural and healthy chicken treats and other poultry goods in the USA.
A three-generation chicken parent, Dawn has been around chickens most of her life. During her childhood, she helped with her grandmother's farm and guided her son with his 4H Poultry project. When working together with her son's 4H project, Dawn's love for chickens sparkled again!
With no money after leaving the law world, Dawn had to start from scratch during the Great Recession no less. Dawn raised her backyard flock in the former "Egg Basket of the World," Petaluma, California. But not as a hobby. This path was Dawn's lifestyle and business.
And since Treats for Chickens' establishment in 2009, Dawn began her journey in sharing her poultry innovations and lifestyle- on Treats for Chickens’ blog, social media (Facebook and Instagram), and yes, even local fair farmer’s market booths. The path was lonely since she was the very few that did chicken treats. But along the way, Dawn connected with great individuals such as poultry keepers, farmers, and USA suppliers.
For she wants to offer fellow pet poultry parents healthy treats, supplements, and herbal nesting box blends with organic and non-GMO ingredients. And through hard work, it became the first pet-chicken manufacturer certified organic. That old saying, “you are what you eat,” is applied to people. Then why not your pet chickens and fowls? This isn’t just a saying; it’s what Dawn and Treats for Chickens’ team do day in and day out.
Thank you for being part of Dawn’s chicken run of happiness and health.
We love organic
Choosing organic mean leaving artifical ingredients off your poultry's beak, bum, wings, and life. Preserving the environments and saying "No" to GMO's. Our certified organic and organic sourced ingredients are made with cultural and biological pratices that support the cycling of on-farn resources, promote ecological balance and conservative bio-diversity in accordance with USDA organic regulations.
